Day 3 - Water Fun

Day 3's theme seemed to be the water for us.  We rented some snorkel gear and headed out to find Nemo.

Grandma and Grandpa are the pros!

Quite a few birds keep us company on the beach, but there are NO seagulls, and these little guys aren't nearly as abnoxious.

This is kind of a requirement, isn't it?

I think he's still picking sand out of places...

After a few morning hours on our beach, we headed up the shore to see a few other beaches. The waves were spectacular!

I love the colors you find in the water!

I wanted to get a picture of my toes in the sand with a little wave coming up to meet them.  This was much harder than I had anticipated.

Close...  But not exactly what I had in my mind.

Timing is everything.  Too late.

Good wave, but where are my toes?? Dangit.

Yesss!

Back to the resort for a little poolside lounging while the guys grilled our dinner...

Soooo good! Salmon, shrimp, potatoes and onions on the grill! Living the high life!

Another sunset walk with my girl...

So, sometimes I pretend to be a photographer.  I don't pretend that my pictures turn out as well as some photographers that I follow, but I still like taking pictures.

I love, love, love that this has rubbed off on my daughter.

No doubt her photos will be famous some day.  Maybe she'll even start a blog some day.

I love how she's learning to look at things with a different perspective and snapping that moment of time to remember it. The one thing she wanted to buy befor our vacation was her new camera that she's been saving up for with her dance teaching money.  Keep on, baby girl. I can't wait to see your photos.

Day 2 - Spring Break!

Oh, good morning Hawaii!

Sunrise over the marina outside my bedroom is quite stunning.

Since we've been waking up so early, I've been loving the early morning walks.  Andy and I hit the gym for about 20 minutes, and then it got too stuffy in there and I could see that it was way too nice outside, so we ditched the gym for a walk instead. Perfect.

Just in case you didn't know this already, beaches are one of my favorite places to knit.  I don't even care if sand gets in my knitting bag.  (It did.)

The kiddos couldn't wait to test out the water.

Since I'm missing Zumba at home, Morgs and I took advantage of the free Aqua Zumba class that the resort offered!  It was so much fun!

Until the part where mom's wedding ring flew off of my hand and landed on the pool floor.  Better than the ocean floor though, and after we both tried unsuccessfully to dive for it, I managed to hook it on a toe and pull it up far enough to grab it.  Major phew!  I would have been absolutely heartbroken if I had lost it for good!

Ahh, a girl could get used to this.

And to this.

Gotta splurge on smoothies while on va-cay.

Andy agreed.  Like his new Hawaii state hat??

Live music at the resort bar.  So good!

Goodness gracious, Hawaii.  You do know how to do a sunset.

No question.

We pretty much love it here, and are having a great time.

Photobomb!

I hear we are supposed to get more snow at home.

But I don't really want to think about that right now.  We have more pictures of the ocean to take.

Another Vacation - Day 1

I'm feeling pretty spoiled these days. Just 4 months after I got home from the trip of a lifetime to Ireland, I'm off again, this time with the fam!

I wasn't going to blog this trip, because I wasn't sure who really would want to read about another vacation, but I seriously can't stop taking pictures. So here we go. I'm technically already a few days into this one, so I have a little catching up to do.

As Maria Von Trapp would say, "let's start at the very beginning.  A very good place to start."

We left Duluth on Thursday night, when Morgs was done with dance class.  The drive to Minneapolis was a little scary actually, with snow covering the roads for a bit. Good thing we were getting out of dodge and heading to warmth!!

We had to catch the 3:30 AM shuttle from our hotel to the airport to make our 6:25 flight to Seattle. Of course we checked in and got through security with no issues. So what do you do when you get to your gate 1.5 hours before your flight boards?? Knit!  (Well, that's what I do.)

Buh bye MN!

Good morning sun!

Hard not to be excited when you are headed on spring break somewhere warm!

Seriously?  Hello mountains. You are pretty.

Really pretty.

Hmm.  Long flight.  What should I do?

I mean, come on.  This scenery?  I heart traveling.

We took off from Seattle for Ohau with a few stressful moments due to no seat assignments until really after we boarded the plane, but it was nothing that a free Mai Tai and a Robert DeNero movie couldn't cure.

Card game with my girl to help pass the time...

I see an island!

Diamond Head!

Arizona Memorial!

And a submarine!  All before our plane even landed.  Yep, I think this trip was probably a good idea.

There's just something about Palm trees.  Amiright?

aloha!

Out to dinner on our first night to Plantation Tavern for some local cuisine and brew.

And I couldn't tell you everything that was in this drink that I ordered, but I can tell you that I didn't leave a drop in it.

Andy got some garlic shrimp,

We shared some pork fried rice.

And some clams!

So yummy!

So, I'm sorry if you don't care to see all about another vacation, but I'm going to document all the fun stuff here, for myself as much as anything else!

So far the time change has been a little tricky to adjust to.  It's about 8 pm here right now and I'm fighting to stay awake since it's 1 am at home right now, but I think I might have to give in and hit the sack. More tomorrow!
